Texture Mapping Project

This Photoshop picture is supposed to represent Stonehenge and how it has become overdone and over-glamorized.  This site in England has become the birthplace of fictional stories involving aliens and paranormal activity. Due to these stories, Stonehenge has become a tourist trap and has become "glitzy" as seen by the sequins on the rocks.  The "grass" represents an astroturf surface with its brightness in color.  The sky represents a gloominess and darkness of what has become important of historical sites such as Stonehenge.  Stonehenge has become misrepresented by the fictional stories changing ancient history to a paranormal, far-fetched story.

Here is the original picture I took of Stonehenge:

  1. I like how the sequins on the stones have different scales. Some of them have smaller sequins and some of them are larger. To make it look...rounder? Like it exists in space? I'm not really sure what term I'm going for, but Maybe consider using the larger scale of the sequins up on the front stones and then scaling the sequins smaller on the side stones to make them look farther back.

  2. I love the textures you used. They are contradictory to the original Stonehenge. The original is sturdy and strong, but you changed it with the use of sequins to give the stones a lighter feel. After reading your description, I really see how the Stonehenge has been "over-glamousized" and the false historical information. Using the sequins really illustrates your purpose of this picture. If I were to change anything, I would make the sequins smaller and more formed around the exact stones in the Stonehenge ( top of the lintel). I like how the grass has a brick-like form because it represents how the Stonehenge has been "built" up to something its not in the present day. Well done!

  3. I like this one a lot, it reminds me of some of the stuff seen in those I Spy books, which is not a bad thing at all. Very creative.

  4. The textures you used are interesting and i like the way they are very abstract while still representing the sky, grass, etc. Whether this was intentional or not, it was unclear to me what the picture was at first glance. Something I would have done differently is t have left the stones more clear so they contrasted more with the surrounding textures. My favorite part of this picture is the sky and how the colors fade. It is fun to try and guess what the textures are. Is the blue a close up of jeans?
